Mr. Jimmy Moore set out to run, walk or bike 80 kilometers for his 80th Birthday. He inspired a whole community to try to “go their age” on foot, by bike, by wheelchair — whatever locomotion they could power themselves.
Mr. Jimmy’s example inspired an annual event on the Longleaf Trace in Prentiss, Mississippi known as The Birthday Challenge. In this “race” to celebrate life and fitness, everyone is a winner.
If you can’t make it to Mississippi to take Mr. Jimmy’s challenge, consider challenging yourself to “go your age” in your hometown. And then come back here and share your story.
I remember mr. Jimmy running by our farm when i was a kid. At the time i did not know if he was crazy or what. Running was not popular at the time. Now after finishing marathons and trail runs i know he was right on track. A humble man that will be missed in our town.
